16th Annual Trash Bash and Watershed Celebration- Oct 20

Trash Bash 2015Come out and help clean up the rivers and creeks within the River des Peres Watershed in St Louis City and County. We need your help to take care of this valuable natural resource in our community.  With the remarkable growth in interest, we've expanded volunteer opportunities to include multiple sites throughout the watershed. Several of these are along scenic Great Rivers Greenway trails! Volunteers will meet in the morning at Willmore Park along the River des Peres Greenway, and Heman Park in University City, or UMSL South Campus.

NOTE THE PRIMARY SIGN-IN AND LUNCH LOCATION IS AT WILLMORE PARK!

Who are we?

A number of organizations and partners working toward clean healthy waters in the River des Peres and tributary streams, including:  River des Peres Watershed Coalition, League of Watershed Gaurdians, Great Rivers Greenway, Missouri Stream Team, City of St. Louis, participating municipalities, and Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District

What are we doing?:

  • Promoting the connection of land and water through neighborhood and stream clean-ups
  • Educating the public on how they can MAKE A DIFFERENCE in their neighborhoods
  • Developing and promoting partnerships within the River des Peres watershed

When is it?:

Saturday, October 20, 2018  
Sign-in: 8:00 am – 8:45 am

Announcements:  8:45 am– 9:00 am

Clean-up:  9:00 am– 12:00 pm

Watershed Celebration and Lunch:  Willmore Park, 12:00pm – 2:00pm

Where is it?

Proposed clean-up sites may include: River des Peres Greenway, Deer Creek, Gravois Creek, Heman Park (Upper River des Peres), Engelholm Creek, and others. As always you are welcome to suggest your own site for cleanup. The clean-up sites will be selected based on the number of volunteers registered.  Sign-in location and lunch will be at Willmore Park (Jamieson Ave at Hampton Ave).

How can you help?

Volunteer! Volunteer! Volunteer!  We are also looking for people to help with a creek or neighborhood clean-up and experienced site leaders.  Nominate a cleanup site, or volunteer to serve as a site leader by contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  For those registering LARGE GROUPS in advance, we will do our best to minimize your day-of-check-in effort by sending you directly to your cleanup site, but we will need you to register as early as possible so we can make these arrangements.

 

Watershed Celebration?

What to wear?

Prepare to get dirty! Wear close toed shoes and long pants.  Dress for the weather. You may want to bring a change of clothes and shoes in case you get really muddy or fall in the creak. Rubber river boots will come in handy if you have them. We will provide everyone with heavy duty gloves and trash bags.
