The Executive Committee of the River des Peres Watershed Coalition (RdPWC) is seeking an independent contractor to fill the role of Program Director, whose primary duties are to serve as the administrator of programs and communications for our non-profit organization. This exciting opportunity will provide the right person with the chance to lead our Urban Waters Initiative. Technical knowledge of water quality and habitat issues are helpful but not required, and we put a premium on someone who lives locally and has non-profit experience or training. This one-year contract position will allow the candidate to work from home, and will ideally be expanded to a longer term.
Applications will be accepted through Tuesday April 23, at which point we will begin to setup interviews. Please see the attached the job announcement for a complete list of duties and qualifications, and instructions for submitting for consideration.

Many of you may have been "on the fence" about upgrading the rainwater pollution prevention capacity of your own backyard. We now is the time to act! See the Deer Creek Watershed Alliance website for all you need to know about the RainScape Rebates program.
http://deercreekalliance.org/rainscaperebates.aspx
This program will give you a rebate for all sorts of rainwater friendly upgrades like the material cost of rain barrels, and the labor cost to hire a contractor to replace those weedy invasive species with beautiful native flowers and shrubs (below is a picture that summarizes all of your options).
For more info on our Rain Barrels, check this link http://www.riverdesperes.org/get-involved/rain-barrel
Probably the most eco-friendly option is the rain garden. Here is a short, sweet, and simple little animation that tells you just how effective they are and how easy to install they can be. Thank you to our midwest neighbors at the University of Nebraska for this easy-to-understand explanation.
